Beyond the Likert Scale: Innovations in Measuring Learning, Culture, and Systems Change

Description: In evaluating learning, culture, and systems change, we often rely on surveys that use Likert and frequency scales to measure a variety of attributes. While such items are “easy” to design and load into sophisticated survey and reporting tools, there are many drawbacks that limit their usefulness in evaluation and impede decision-making. In this session, we will rethink the Likert-scale item design and explore three alternative item types that enable us to measure key indicators of learning, culture, and systems that better tell the story of transformation.
