Chair’s Blurb – 2022 September

Greetings from your Section Chair,

The year is almost 3/4th over and a lot has transpired since the last letter I published to you.

We have an approved slate of officers for next year. There were no nominations from the membership to consider over those the nominating committee came up with. Please welcome the new slate as follows:

  • Chair – Kennedy Bruce
  • Vice Chair – Jim Hope
  • Treasurer – Toysha Walker
  • Secretary – Neil Desai

This month and the next, we will still hold the Virtual PD Meetings on the 4th Thursday of the month and the speakers, scheduled to present, are outstanding experts in their field. They are as follows:

September 22, 2022
Topic: Clinical Validation of Remote Cardiac Monitoring Device
Speaker: Jerrold Michael Grodin, MD

October 28, 2022
Topic: BCS Framework: Building Site Decisions and Problem Solving – A Quality Process
Speaker: Lucian Niemeyer

We are not able to resume face-to-face meeting as of yet. It’s been very frustrating, trying to find a place to hold our PD meetings, that fits our needs and at a reasonable cost, and also trying to predict the number of people who would be comfortable getting together during this period of uncertainty with the COVID-19 pandemic still lurking around the corner.

We have committed to holding the belated ASQ Dallas Section 1402 70th Year Anniversary Celebration. It will be held on the 19th of November – Don’t forget to mark your calendar. It will be held at the Dallas Doubletree near LBJ and Midway Road, the same location where we had our member appreciation event several years ago. Peggy Catron is busy planning the event and we will keep you informed of her progress as the program comes together. Should any of you like to assist her in this endeavor, please contact her or Russell Wood.

We are actively looking for speakers for the next year. If you would like to present a paper at either a PD Meeting or a Tutorial, please contact Fred Leinweber or me and we will put you on the schedule. If you have any subject that you would like to propose, and a possible speaker, also let us know.

Looking forward to having you at the PD Meeting on Thursday, September 22nd. The speaker and subject information is also currently posted on our web site – www.asqdallas.org.

Warmest Regards,

H. W. (Hank) Fahrlander Jr. P.E,
2021-2022 Section Chair
ASQ Dallas Section 140
